What's new in Poland?

Boleslaw Chrobry Primary School Choir's rendition of "Rota" (The Oath), a patriotic anthem written in 1908 by famous poet and Polish independence activist - Maria Konopnicka. The music was composed two years later by composer, conductor and concert organist, Feliks Nowowiejski. Konopnicka's poem came into being as a protest against the German Empire's oppression and suppression of Polish culture in German-occupied western Poland. It was later suggested as the Polish national anthem.

We won't forsake the land we came from,

From the royal line of Piast.
