April 2015 greetings from Finland

Hi all,

Metsäkylän koulu in Finland is busy with the end of the year tasks. Nevertheless, we have been active in the Erasmus+ program as well.

We created an Erasmus+ information wall for the students. Right now there is a big map of Europe with all the participating schools marked there. Students get a better idea of where our partner schools and students live. We also have the invader legends posted on the wall for everyone to read.

Fifth graders are busy with a storyline writing for the drama. The texts have been translated into English and the groups are practicing them for the video taping. The students will use costumes found from our school, but third graders are making additional items for the project. Photos and the video will be posted as soon as it is ready.

Our logo competition got several good applicants. Sara Koskinen's work was chosen to represent our school. The logo is posted in Twin Space and in this blog.

A lot of students were interested in participating Erasmus+ trips. We had the first round of interviews to determine who gets to travel to Spain. Four lucky ones were chosen (three girls and a boy), all fifth graders. All four wrote short descriptions of themselves with photos attached. It was so nice to get replies from fellow Spanish students that these youngsters will stay at with. We sat down with our four students and their parents in an information night on Thursday this week. Our team, three teachers and four students, are really looking forward to our trip to Spain!
